Product Overview
The Stainless Steel Threaded Globe Valve is a straight‑pattern globe valve with an all‑stainless‑steel body and female threaded ends. It can be used for both ON‑OFF (open/close) and flow regulation service. Compared with gate valves, the globe valve offers better throttling characteristics and sealing reliability, making it suitable for applications requiring frequent operation or flow regulation. The all‑stainless‑steel body (304/316) provides excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature capability, and a hygienic surface finish, making it suitable for water, oil, gas, mild acids/alkalis, food, and pharmaceutical media.
The valve features a low‑in/high‑out flow path design with a flat or conical disc that seats tightly against the seat for reliable sealing. Compact and lightweight, it can be screwed directly into threaded pipe connections for easy installation. Available in nominal diameters from DN15 to DN100 (1/2″ to 4″), pressure ratings PN16 to PN40 (Class 150–300), and widely used in chemical, food, pharmaceutical, water treatment, marine, and building services industries.
Product Structure
The Stainless Steel Threaded Globe Valve mainly consists of the following parts:
-
Body: Precision cast stainless steel body in CF8 (304), CF8M (316), or CF3M (316L). Female threaded ends (NPT, BSPT, BSPP, or G threads). Straight‑pattern or angle‑pattern flow path, typically low‑in/high‑out.
-
Disc (Plug): Flat, conical, or spherical disc. The sealing face can be hardfaced with Stellite or covered with PTFE. The disc is connected to the stem and moves up and down with it.
-
Seat: Integral or removable seat, with sealing face material matching the disc.
-
Stem: Stainless steel (304, 316) trapezoidal‑thread stem, connected to the handwheel/actuator at the top and the disc at the bottom, converting rotary motion into linear disc movement.
-
Bonnet: Bolted to the body, housing the packing box.
-
Packing Box: Contains PTFE or flexible graphite packing, compressed by a packing gland to prevent external leakage.
-
Handwheel: Cast iron, ductile iron, or stainless steel handwheel, with or without locking device.
-
Stem Nut: Copper alloy or stainless steel nut engaging with the stem trapezoidal threads.
-
Gasket: PTFE or flexible graphite gasket between body and bonnet.
Compact construction; threaded connections eliminate flanges, gaskets, and bolts, allowing quick installation.
Function
-
Shut‑Off and Regulation: Rotating the handwheel turns the stem, lifting or lowering the disc to achieve fully open, fully closed, or any intermediate position for flow regulation. The globe valve flow path provides excellent throttling characteristics.
-
High Sealing Performance: The disc seats tightly against the seat (flat or conical interface). Soft sealing achieves ANSI Class VI zero leakage; metal sealing provides reliable shut‑off.
-
Corrosion Resistance: The all‑stainless‑steel body (304/316) resists water, oil, mild acids, alkalis, salt spray, and many chemicals – ideal for corrosive media and sanitary applications.
-
High Temperature Capability: Metal‑sealed versions operate from –29°C to +400°C; PTFE soft‑seated versions from –20°C to +200°C.
-
Low‑In/High‑Out Flow Path: Standard globe valves use a low‑in/high‑out design where media pressure assists sealing when closed, though flow resistance is slightly higher than gate valves.
-
Easy Threaded Installation: Screws directly into threaded pipe ends – no flanges, welding, or extra fasteners required, saving space and cost.
-
Multiple Thread Standards: Available in NPT, BSPT, BSPP, or G threads to meet different regional standards.
-
Optional Actuators: Can be fitted with electric or pneumatic actuators for remote automatic control and regulation.
Working Conditions
-
Applicable Media: Water, oil, gas, steam, mild acids/alkalis, food fluids, pharmaceutical purified water, solvents, chemical media, etc.
-
Temperature Range: –29°C to +400°C (metal seal); –20°C to +200°C (PTFE soft seal).
-
Pressure Rating: PN16, PN25, PN40 (Class 150, 300); higher available on request.
-
Nominal Diameter: DN15 – DN100 (1/2″ – 4″).
-
Installation: Female threaded ends; recommended horizontal or vertical (stem up) installation. Flow direction must follow the arrow on the body (low‑in/high‑out).
-
Typical Applications:
-
Chemical plant corrosive media branch line shut‑off and flow regulation
-
Hygienic pipelines in food & beverage production
-
Flow control in pharmaceutical purified water systems
-
Fresh water and seawater line regulation on ships
-
Cooling water branch regulation in industrial equipment
-
Fine regulation of laboratory gas and liquid lines
-
Hot water branch shut‑off in heating systems
-
Summary
The Stainless Steel Threaded Globe Valve, with its advantages of all‑stainless‑steel corrosion‑resistant body, reliable sealing, flow regulation capability, and easy threaded installation, is an ideal valve for shut‑off and regulation in small to medium bore pipelines handling corrosive, sanitary, or high‑temperature media. Compared with gate valves, the globe valve offers better throttling characteristics and sealing reliability, making it suitable for frequent operation or flow regulation. Compared with ball valves, the globe valve is more stable at partial openings and less prone to cavitation. With female threaded ends and optional manual or automated actuators, the Stainless Steel Threaded Globe Valve is an economical and durable solution for pipeline systems that require reliable shut‑off and regulation, and handle corrosive, hygienic, or high‑temperature media in small to medium diameters.
