Product Overview

The Pneumatic Knife Gate Valve is a knife‑edge gate valve driven by a pneumatic actuator. It is designed only for ON‑OFF (open/close) service – not for flow regulation. Compared with manual or electric knife gate valves, the pneumatic version offers fast response, excellent explosion‑proof performance, and remote centralized control. It is particularly suitable for applications requiring frequent cycling, high explosion‑proof requirements, or locations without electrical power.

The sharp knife‑edge gate cuts through hanging fibers, paper, plastic strips, and other materials during closure, preventing clogging. The body flow path has no recesses, providing self‑cleaning action. The valve has flanged connections, with nominal diameters from DN50 to DN600, pressure ratings PN10/PN16 (Class 150), and body materials including cast iron, carbon steel, and stainless steel. The pneumatic actuator can be equipped with accessories such as solenoid valves, limit switches, and air filter regulators.

Product Structure

The Pneumatic Knife Gate Valve mainly consists of the pneumatic actuator (ON‑OFF type) and the valve body assembly.

Pneumatic Actuator (ON‑OFF Type):

1. Cylinder: Single‑acting (spring return) or double‑acting cylinder providing thrust to move the gate up and down.

2. Piston and Seals: High‑strength aluminum alloy or stainless steel piston with wear‑resistant seals.

3. Air Ports: Standard G1/4″, G1/2″ or NPT threads for connection to the air supply line.

Valve Body Assembly:

1. Body: Cast or fabricated body in gray cast iron, ductile iron, carbon steel (WCB), stainless steel (CF8/CF8M), etc. Flanged ends conforming to GB/T 9113, ANSI B16.5, EN 1092‑1, etc. Full‑bore flow path with no recesses.

2. Gate: Stainless steel (304, 316, 310S) knife‑edge gate with a sharp edge to cut through fibers and particles. The gate surface can be hardfaced with Stellite or chrome‑plated.

3. Seats: Available in rubber (EPDM, NBR, FKM), PTFE, or metal sealing; bidirectional sealing optional.

4. Stem: Stainless steel stem connected to the cylinder piston rod, moving the gate up and down.

5. Packing Box: Contains PTFE or flexible graphite packing, compressed by a packing gland to prevent external leakage.

6. Yoke: Connects the body to the cylinder.

The pneumatic actuator provides fast response (typically 0.5–3 seconds), making it suitable for high‑cycle applications.

Function

1. Pneumatic Fast Operation: The cylinder drives the gate to open or close quickly, with short response time – ideal for automated processes requiring frequent cycling.

6. Bidirectional Sealing (optional): Bidirectional floating seats or double‑sided sealing allow the valve to withstand media pressure from either direction.

7. Full‑Bore Low Flow Resistance: When fully open, the gate is completely out of the flow path, providing minimal pressure loss.

8. Manual Emergency Operation: A handwheel or manual lever allows valve operation during air supply failure.

9. Speed Adjustment: Speed control valves on the cylinder ports allow adjustment of gate speed to reduce water hammer or impact.

5. Air Supply Pressure: 0.4–0.8 MPa (standard 0.5–0.6 MPa).
